Coffee Shop: DV8
If you ask me what my favorite food is, I’ll tell you I don’t have one. Let’s be honest, all food should be treated equally and there’s no way you can really choose one or the other (unless you’re a picky eater and all you eat is chicken nuggets). But us foodies don't commit to one particular food item; rather we have love affairs with all foods. HOWEVER, if you asked me to narrow it down to the top 10, coffee would definitely make the cut. Now don’t give me that ‘coffee isn’t a food’ argument. Besides, whose blog is this?
Anywhere I go, whether I’m with Ryan, my family, or alone, it is my goal to find some sort of coffee shop. Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy some Starbucks every now and then, but nothing beats those independent coffee shops. You know, the ‘hole in the wall’ artsy coffee places.
One of my absolute favorites is located right in Greensburg; DV8. Come on, even the name sounds intriguing, right? And there’s no way you can miss the creative looking sign outside; the place practically pulls you in.
The shop is full of artwork from some local artists, as well as the family that owns it. In fact, the seating inside is located in the gallery, where new pieces of work are hung monthly. DV8 also hosts Open-Mic Nights, Indie Movie Nights, and discussion groups, referred to as ‘Socrates Café.’
So now the answer to your main question; “How’s the coffee?!?” Fabulous. Ryan actually introduced me to the shop last fall, and I will never pass up the opportunity to stop by. My favorite drink is the Mexican Volcano. This drink is a mix of Mexican chocolate, ground cinnamon, almonds, and a shot of espresso. Served hot or cold, this drink is killer either way. The smooth taste of the Mexican chocolate is subtle, but just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. I recently had this as a frozen drink (pictured below), and I was not disappointed!
Stop in for a cup of one of their many flavors of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate (hot or frozen) and enjoy some artwork!
