Adventures in Ohio!

Last week, my family and I took a fun-filled, three day trip to Ohio. When I told my friends where we were vacationing this summer, I got looks of confusion and boredom. Of course, Ohio isn't the first place you think of when someone mentions 'vacation,' but don't judge a book by its cover people. With an appetite for adventure and an adventurous appetite (yes...my family likes to eat too) you'd be surprised all the unique places you can discover no matter where you're at!

The main reason we chose Ohio was to visit Cedar Point. Thrill Seekers and Coaster Lovers, if you haven't visited this park yet, you're missing out! Home to 18 different roller coasters, there's so much to do at this park. For the low-thrill seekers (like my parents) there are plenty of rides for you too. Need a break from riding? See a show! Visit a gift shop! Take a relaxing trip on the train or the cable cars! Need to cool down? Head over to the water park, Soak City! We definitely didn't get through everything in one day, but we were so exhausted that we were happy with all that we covered. Whether you want to visit with Charlie Brown or snap a pic of the park and Lake Erie at the top of the Ferris Wheel, the entire Firment clan urges you to get your Cedar Point tickets today!

Our journey back home was the day we were most adventurous, in that we ate at TWO different restaurants, an ICE CREAM SHOP, and visited TWO different places. Yes, the Firment Family loves to go buck wild on their vacations.

After a couple hours of driving, the passengers napping, and all of us fighting about things not worth fighting about (no family is perfect)...we FINALLY decided what we wanted to do next: visit the Christmas Story House.

Having not watched A Christmas Story is considered a sin in my family. We watch it every year on Thanksgiving and I can keep watching it all year round. It's one of our favorites.

The original house where some of the filming took place still stands, and you can tour the inside and back yard. Although the original props are stored in the museum across the street, the inside was completely renovated to represent the movie. And of course it includes the infamous leg lamp and BB gun!

So whether you want to hide under the sink because,'Daddy's gonna kill Ralphie.....'

.....or gawk at you 'Major Award...'

...add the Christmas Story House & Museum to your adventure list!

After another hour of driving, we stumbled upon one of our favorite pastimes; Mini golf! Like I said, us Firment's are OUT OF CONTROL when we're on vacay. This location was exceptionally pleasing to us because right next door was Sweeties Candy Company; THE BIGGEST CANDY STORE IN NORTH AMERICA. We looked like four idiots who have never seen candy before in their lives. Trust me when I say, this place was ENORMOUS. Aisles and aisles of candy lined the store, and there was even an soda shop on the other side. Words don't do this place justice...just check out the sites & video below:
