Ohio Eats

What's a road trip without exploring restaurants? The morning of our departure, we had two goals in mind; to arrive home safely, but most importantly, discover a superb breakfast joint. That's when we stumbled upon The Better Half Family Diner.

My mouth is still watering at the sight of this delicious Western Omelette. Located in Sandusky, OH, The Better Half Family Diner is definitely one of your classic, small-town, family diners. Offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as different coffee drinks and desserts, this is a go-to if you find yourself road-tripping across the state (or back to home sweet home in our case). One of the best parts, it's extremely reasonably priced!

I highly recommend checking this place out, especially if you're looking for a good diner during your travels! Although the institution isn't on social media, you can check out their menu below:

After touring the Christmas Story House, Sweeties, and competing with one another at mini-golf, we set off to a place we had in mind at the beginning of the trip; Melt Bar & Grilled. A couple years ago, we went to Cleveland to visit the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame (another fantastic place to explore!). We discovered Melt while we were there and knew immediately that we had to return. Plus, with six different locations in Ohio, you can't NOT visit this place while you're there!

Each restaurant has its own unique vibe, but no matter what kind of sandwich you get here, you can always expect two things; that it will be piled high, and be served with a bunch of fries. There are plenty of apps, soups, and salads to choose from too, which look equally as delicious (I have to say look because both times I've been to Melt I have opted for a sandwich smothered in melted cheese)! With over 25 sandwiches, there's something for everyone. You can even have to option to make selected sandwiches vegan or vegetarian!

The sandwich I devoured (pictured all above) was the Bushwood Club. Smoked turkey, bacon, an onion aioli, lettuce, tomato, & provolone are the ingredients to this fantastic dish. Just like your classic club sandwich, but bigger, badder, and better.

The restaurant has been featured on many shows, such as Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and Man V. Food. If you have learned anything from this blog post, it's that you have to visit Melt ASAP.

Check out their website and social media pages below!

P.S. Anyone want to help me write a petition to bring a Melt to the Pittsburgh area...? :)

Last but certainly not least...no day is complete without dessert. Right? Right.

We actually discovered this adorable ice cream/candy store by accident. Malley's serves custom chocolate creations, and in four out of twenty two locations, there is an ice cream parlor. There were so many treats to choose from! From banana splits to hot fudge sundaes to brownie sundaes, I choose to try a coffee milkshake.

I was definitely not disappointed.

A cool thing about Malley's... see that little cup in the bottom left corner in the picture above? When you get a sundae, they give you your own cup of hot fudge. People. How many places do you know that allow YOU, the loyal customer, to control the hot fudge to ice cream ratio? Not many, right? Visit this place. Now.

I hope you enjoyed these posts as much as I did writing them and exploring each place (through food and experiences)! Thanks for reading!!!
